Harltex Expands Manufacturing Capability

New Rubber Mixing Mill
Harltex has taken delivery of a rubber mixing mill as part of its continued investment in UK rubber manufacturing.
Walker & Son (Hauliers) Ltd supported the delivery of the equipment to the Harltex site. The Harltex team will now complete the installation and commissioning process before introducing the mill into production.
Once operational, the mill will expand Harltex’s in-house rubber processing capability and increase the manufacturing capacity available across the Goodflex Group. In particular, it will support the preparation and processing of rubber compounds for the company’s moulding and extrusion operations.
Increasing In-House Rubber Processing Capacity
A rubber mixing mill works rubber material between two rotating rolls. This process prepares the material for the next stage of production and allows the manufacturing team to control its condition before moulding or extrusion.
The new addition will provide Harltex with further capacity at this important stage of the manufacturing process. As a result, the production team will have additional resources to support the manufacture of moulded and extruded rubber components.
The mill will also complement the existing manufacturing resources across the Goodflex Group. Therefore, the investment increases the equipment available within Harltex while supporting the Group’s wider experience in rubber materials, manufacturing processes and industrial applications.
Supporting Rubber Moulding and Extrusion
Harltex manufactures custom rubber mouldings, extruded profiles, seals, gaskets and bonded components for industrial applications. The company works from customer drawings, technical specifications and physical samples, depending on the requirements of each project.
This capability also allows Harltex to support replacement and legacy components. Where original drawings or specifications no longer exist, the engineering team can assess an existing sample and review the requirements for reverse engineering and manufacture.
Rubber moulding produces individual components in defined shapes through dedicated tooling. The appropriate production method depends on the component geometry, selected material, working environment and required quantity.
Rubber extrusion, meanwhile, produces continuous profiles with a consistent cross-section. Harltex can manufacture bespoke extruded profiles and supply them in continuous lengths or cut them to specified sizes. The team can also undertake further fabrication or joining where the component design requires it.
The rubber mixing mill will support both areas by increasing the resources available for material preparation and processing. Consequently, Harltex will strengthen the connection between the early production stages and its established moulding and extrusion operations.
Continued Investment in UK Rubber Manufacturing
The arrival of the mill marks another practical stage in the continued development of Harltex. It also supports the company’s integration within the Goodflex Group and increases the manufacturing capacity available across the Group’s UK operations.
Harltex will bring the equipment into production after completing the installation and commissioning work. The mill will then support the manufacture of custom rubber components for customers across a range of industrial sectors.
This investment focuses on a defined operational requirement: increasing Harltex’s in-house capacity for preparing and processing rubber compounds used within moulding and extrusion. It strengthens the company’s existing manufacturing capability without changing the established processes or technical controls required for individual customer applications.
